November Newsletter 2010

Well the nights are drawing in, with this brings an exciting month of carnivals and bonfire celebrations. The newsletter is jam packed with lots of important information this month so please read thoroughly.

Parents, please ensure children bring in a rain coat and warm clothing daily, or leave them on their peg. This is so we can still go outside in the winter weather. It would be very helpful if such items have children’s names on please.

Also if your child is in nappies or uses wet wipes, please remember to check the list on the inner door to see if your child needs more of these items.

Thank you for supporting our Halloween parties, I think they were enjoyed by all. Some pictures have been sent to the local newspaper so hopefully they will be in the paper in a few weeks time.

As you might have noticed Jess’s jumper is looking rather tighter than normal....No she hasn’t started on the mince pies early, she is expecting a new addition to her family, he or she is due around the beginning of April. Claire and all the staff at Home from Home would like to say a big congratulations to Jess, Matt and Jake, we can’t wait to meet the new arrival!

The Baby Room

This month we will be focusing on fun filled activities to do with Bonfire night and Carnival. We will be creating firework pictures with glitter and stars and experimenting with Chalks and black paper. We will be discussing Carnival, dancing, dressing up and looking at colourful picture books and posters showing the event. We will also be doing some junk modelling to follow our carnival theme. Towards the end of November we will be very busy making Christmas decorations to display within the baby room over December.

The Playroom

This month we will be discussing Carnival and Bonfire as these are events I am sure lots of children will be looking forward to and enjoying. Please let us know if your child has attended any such event so we can talk to them about it, if you take any photos that they would like to share these can be brought in and displayed.

Children will be making bonfire pictures using splat painting as well as using other mediums. They will be making rockets and shooting stars as well as carnival floats and cooking some yummy bonfire and carnival treats

I’m sure you have all noticed the shops stocking their Christmas goods for weeks now as Christmas creeps upon us. We will start doing some Christmas themed work with the children this month to give us enough time to do a variety of creative items and to give time to display them.

Please could you help your child learn the following songs:

Remember remember the fifth of November

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

A chubby little snowman (Tune I had a little nut tree)

A chubby little snowman had a carrot nose

Along came a rabbit and what do you suppose

That hungry little rabbit was looking for his lunch

He ate the snowman’s carrot nose

Nibble nibble crunch

I’m a little Snowman (Tune I’m a little teapot)

I’m a little snowman round and fat

I’ve got a wolly scarf and a little bobble hat

When the snow is falling you hear me say

Come and make a snowman it’s Christmas day

Father Christmas(Tune I hear thunder)

Father Christmas, Father Christmas

He got stuck, He got stuck

Coming down the chimney, Coming down the chimney

What bad luck, What bad luck

When Santa got stuck up the chimney

When Santa got stuck up the chimney he began to shout

You girls and boys won’t get any toys if you don’t pull me out

My beard is black, there is soot in my sack my nose is tickly too

When Santa got stuck up the chimney

Achoo achoo achoo

Christmas pudding (Tune I hear thunder)

Christmas pudding, Christmas pudding

Steaming hot, Steaming hot

Sprinkle on the sugar, Sprinkle on the sugar

Eat the lot, Eat the lot

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells, jingle Bells jingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh

Hey! Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells jingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh

We wish you a merry Christmas

We wish you a merry Christmas

We wish you a merry Christmas

We wish you a merry Christmas

And a happy new year.

The little lord Jesus lay down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky look down where he lay

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
